JAY SHADIX was born in Toledo, Ohio but finally made his way to South Carolina at age 17. As Jay likes to put it, he’s “Northern by birth, Southern by choice”. After graduating from Goose Creek High school, where he met his wife Brenna, Jay spent 4 years in the US Army as a Cannon Crew Member.

Since Jay has always been fascinated by sound and music, he studied audio engineering in Orlando, Florida and then worked at recording studios in Charleston and Greensboro, North Carolina. Eventually, Jay found his way into radio and has worked for stations in St. Louis, Missouri and Seattle, Washington as well as Charleston. Although he’s lived in 16 cities in 3 different countries, Jay believes the Lowcountry is the best place on earth for him and Brenna to raise their daughter, Amber, and son Tristan. And if you run into Jay while you’re out and about (he’s easy to spot at 6’8″), be sure to ask him “how y’all are?”
